UNAVEX PRESIDENT / CEO

Eric Huppert is a native of Albany, New York. After graduating from the US Air Force Academy in 1983, he spent fifteen of his twenty years in the Air Force as a pilot in Special Operations. He was stationed at Pope Air Force Base, NC, Kadena Air Base, Japan, Hurlburt Field, FL, and he also completed an exchange tour as a pilot in the Royal Air Force with British Special Forces. Following command of the 6th Special Operations Squadron at Hurlburt Field, FL, Lieutenant Colonel Huppert retired as Deputy Commander of the 1st Special Operations Group.

 

Mr. Huppert’s experience in the USAF was unique. For 3 years he commanded the USAF’s only unit charged with training foreign air forces in the art of employing aircraft in military operations. He was involved in operations in Asia, South America, and Eastern Europe, as well as the Middle East and former Soviet Republics. In the process he became experienced in aircraft of all types. He is a graduate of the State Flight Academy of Ukraine, certified on the Antonov An-2, An-26, and An-32. In addition to tactics, techniques and procedures for daytime missions, Mr. Huppert has well over 1000 flying hours in low level night vision goggle tactical operations.

 

In the years after retirement in 2003, he flew surveillance aircraft in Kosovo for NATO, helped manage the Baghdad International Airport, and was the Deputy Operations Director for the US Department of State’s Air Wing. While with the Department of State, Eric flew the OV-10 Bronco in counter-narcotics operations in South America.

 

Mr. Huppert currently presides over UNAVEX Corporation, his independent aviation consulting firm. Advertising unique aviation expertise, in the past five years he has worked extensively with the USAF, the US Army, DEA, DynCorp International, Blackwater USA, Taos Industries, Computer Sciences Corporation, and the Royal Air Force. In April of 2011 he coordinated operations and flew Senator John McCain to Benghazi for meetings with Libyan rebels. He also set up the air bridge from Malta to Tripoli during the US Department of State’s Return to Tripoli program.

 

Through various sourcing methods developed during his worldwide operational experience, UNAVEX provides logistics, training and spare parts support for organizations operating former eastern-bloc aircraft. Currently, UNAVEX is providing training for US Air Force Aviation Advisors destined for Afghanistan in the Mi-17 helicopter and the Antonov 32.

 

Mr. Huppert holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in American History from the US Air Force Academy, and a Master’s Degree in International Relations. He periodically flies World War II P-51 Mustangs for Stallion 51 Corporation in Kissimmee Florida and mentors academic courses for the US Air Force Special Operations School at Hurlburt Field, FL.
